Advertise your study on myPersonality
myPersonality can publish posts which appear on the newsfeed of Facebook users who “like” our page. At the time of writing there are over a hundred thousand users.
From time to time we have published links to online academic research studies (for free). We are happy to do so for researchers, but we are happiest when the following conditions are met:
- The study is short. 5 minutes is the sweet spot really but certainly nothing longer than 15 minutes. Please be brutal in cutting every unnecessary question.
- The study does not replicate something that myPersonality already does. We make our data available to academic researchers so if you want to view our data then contact us – there’s no need to run your own study from scratch.
- We would like you to write a short summary of the research after you have completed it to go on the myPersonality research blog. This should be written in plain English for the layman. It is our way of thanking users for their time and explaining what it helped to achieve. If you can you should also allow users to leave their email address so that you can send them the results of the study directly.
- Ideally your study will donate to charity for each completed response. This need not be a large amount, but it gives an additional incentive for users to help out.
The number of responses you get will depend on how long your study is and what its inclusion criteria are. Remember that myPersonality is used worldwide, so it’s best when you aren’t just interested in respondents from a certain country. An example was a study by Alexandra Bailey at Manchester Business School. She had about 300 respondents in the 24 hours after we advertised her study.
Note that we will not spam our users with studies, so only a limited number will be able to be advertised. The frequency that we can advertise studies will depend on what myPersonality is planning to promote ourselves. The more notice you give us, the better chance that we can fit it in.
